BENEATH THE MASSACRE Lands On 'Top New Artist Albums' Chart
November 6, 2008"Dystopia", the new album from the Montreal death metal quartet BENEATH THE MASSACRE, sold nearly 1,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD debuted at position No. 22 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
Recorded again with St-Amand (DESPISED ICON, ION DISSONANCE, NEURAXIS) and featuring artwork from Felix Rancourt, "Dystopia" is the follow-up to 2007's "Mechanics of Dysfunction", which was supported by tours with NECROPHAGIST, THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD and ION DISSONANCE. The band also took part in 2007's inaugural Summer Slaughter tour and last year's Radio Rebellion Tour alongside BEHEMOTH, JOB FOR A COWBOY, and GOJIRA, among others.
BENEATH THE MASSACRE vocalist Elliot Desgagnés previously stated about the CD: "We are all very stoked by the new album as we feel that this is the best release we've ever done and we're impatient to share our songs with our fans."
Currently playing a handful of shows along with EMMURE on the way home to Montreal, BENEATH THE MASSACRE will be touring North America again in February and March, upon completion of a month's worth of European dates as direct support to fellow Canadians CRYPTOPSY.
Metal Mark conducted an interview with Elliot Desgagnés on October 21, 2008 in Atlanta, Georgia. Watch the six-minute chat below.
